Junior Common Room

Located off the main lobby, the JCR is for informal gatherings of students. It includes comfortable furniture, a widescreen TV and a grand piano. This is Leverett's living room and cannot generally be reserved in the afternoons and evenings. It is occasionally possible to reserve the JCR for morning events that cannot take place in other house spaces. To inquire about a possible event, contact the House Life Tutor, Daniel Roy. Although private events are discouraged, we are very interested in ideas for House-wide events to expand the usage of the JCR. If you have an idea, please let us know (See JCR Activity Proposal Instructions.

Senior Common Room

This smaller room, located off the dining hall lobby, is used for informal gatherings and meetings of the Senior Common Room (faculty affiliates, non-resident tutors, and resident tutors). It is sometimes appropriate for events hosted by student groups, particularly formal events that involve faculty or groups such as support groups that require an atmosphere of privacy. Arrangements for use of the room for special events should be made through the House Life Tutor, Daniel Roy.

The G-Spot

The G-Spot is located on the first floor of G Tower. There is a large screen television, a VCR, and areas for rest and relaxation. The G-spot cannot be reserved by student organizations. The room will occasionally be reserved for events sponsored by HoCo or House Tutors. If you would like to propose a house event, consult Daniel Roy.

The Leverett House Library

The library, located on the second floor of the building on DeWolfe Street contains approximately 14,000 volumes. The collections are cared for by the House Librarian and a staff of Leverett House students. The on-line catalogue of the Harvard Libraries, HOLLIS, can be accessed from a computer in the Library. Normal hours are 12:30 PM to 12:30 AM Monday through Thursday, 12:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Friday and 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, and 9:30 AM to 12:30 AM on Sunday. Hours will be extended during reading period.

This is also the location for the Leverett House Video Library, where you can check out videos with a membership card that you can purchase at the beginning of the academic year.

For photocopying, talk to the librarian on duty. You must make photocopies during library hours.

Private Dining Room

This small quiet room accommodates 16 people and is located off the main dining hall. It may be used for language or special interest tables, or for special meals by members of Leverett House. Leverites may schedule one time-events in this facility by contacting Daniel Roy. During meal times, reservations are limited to groups made up entirely or mostly of Leverett students. An exception may be made for a group that can show a compelling reason to need this space rather than the nearby D-Entry Dining Room.

D-Entry Dining Room

This small room, located off the dining room lobby, accommodates approximately 12 students around a large central table. It is used for seminars, language tables, meetings of house organizations, and house tutorials. It is also available for all-night studying. Leverites may schedule one time-events in this facility through the automated room reservation system, up to one week in advance.

Old Library

The Old Library is a large room located down a stairway near the entrance to McKinlock from Mill Street. Historically used as a small theater primarily for plays and performances, it is also appropriate for meetings and rehearsals, particularly of groups too large to fit in the House's other reservable spaces or those that need lots of space to move around. Seating consists of folding chairs, which may need to be set up at the beginning of your event. The Old Library is unlocked Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may be reserved up to one week in advance through the automated room reservation system. It is also possible to reserve the Old Library on weekends under certain circumstances; to enquire about a weekend event, please contact Daniel Roy. Special rules apply to the use of the Old Library for ticketed performances, rehearsals involving large blocks of time, and events with an expected attendance of over 50 (See Old Library Special Events Guidelines for further information) Please bear in mind that the Old Library is not handicapped accessible. If someone in a wheelchair wishes to attend your event, you will be responsible for finding another venue.

Classrooms

Leverett House has two seminar rooms: L-9, opposite the Superintendent's office in the Library building is a small space with seating for about 10 people, while F-1, on the ground floor of F-Tower, can accomodate between 15 and 20. Both have whiteboards and a central table surrounded by chairs. Either room may be reserved up to one week in advance using the automated room reservation system. During reading period and finals, these rooms are reserved around the clock as study spaces.
