For questions about pre-medical requirements, you can consult Harvard's designated undergraduate science advisors:

  • James Davis - Head Tutor in Chemistry (Sci. Ctr. 114, 6-4668, jedavis@ fas)
  • Clifford Taubes - Director of Undergraduate Studies in Mathematics (Sci. Ctr. 504, 5-5579, chtaubes@math)
  • James Michel - Head Tutor in Biochemistry (525-4683, jlmichel@warren.med)
  • Margaret Law - Head Tutor in Physics (Jefferson 365, 5-2620, law@phys1)

The Student Employment Office (located in Byerly Hall at 8 Garden St.) has a compendium of undergraduate research opportunities at Harvard, as well as a full catalog of funding sources for research. Take particular note of the "big 4" undergraduate research funding programs: the Faculty Aide Program, the Harvard College Research Program, the Mellon/Mentored Scholars Minority Undergraduate Fellowship Program, and the Dean's Summer Research Awards program. Research opportunities and funding information can also be accessed via the SEOweb site at http://www.seo.harvard.edu.

A very useful collection of research abstracts for faculty affiliated with the Division of Medical Sciences (the arm of the graduate school located over at Harvard Medical School) can be obtained at the D.M.S. office, located on the fourth floor of Building E (the Tosteson Medical Education Center) at H.M.S.. A similar list for faculty affiliated with the graduate program in Molecular and Cellular Biology on the main Harvard campus can be found in the office of Barbara Lewis, the Undergraduate Coordinator for Biochemical Sciences (room 195 of the Fairchild building).
