I’m thrilled to be joining the Leverett House community with my children Jack (age 9) and Avery (age 5) as well as our labradoodle Millie. You’re sure to find us running around the courtyards or exploring the various neighborhoods in Cambridge.
I received my BA from Columbia University in English & Comparative Literature, my MA from Columbia University Teachers College in Psychology in Education, and my PhD from Boston College in English Literature. As a teacher and researcher, I focus on 20th – 21st century American literature with a specialty in immigration. I write about the ways in which narratives (fiction, nonfiction, and film) both reflect and influence political policies and social change. As a professor, I work to create courses that are interdisciplinary, engaging, and unique. I meet my students at their individual points of interest, which is how I also approach my role as your ABRD.
Some days I’ll be your coach, some days I’ll be your mentor, and some days I’ll be your counselor – all depending on what you need. My educational path was nontraditional and included a significant break, my professional roles have ranged from film production to cancer research coordination, and I spent the past four years at the United States Military Academy at West Point as a professor and Dean. My blend of experiences that have helped widen my view of higher education (and the world) and equipped me with tools to assist in your development as undergraduates. I’m here to engage with you on issues big and small, so please never hesitate to book an appointment to come see me. My goal is to help each of you find your way through your educational journey so that we can all celebrate your successes and ambitions.
