John Nowak
My name is John Nowak, and I am a Ph.D. student in Islamic Studies with the Committee on the Study of Religion at Harvard, with research interests in the intersection of identity, reform, and literature in the context of 19th and 20th century South Asia. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science at McGill University, and I hold a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. Prior to my current position, I worked for two think tanks, was a Teach for America corps member, and taught in a public school setting for five years. In my spare time, I love running and biking long distances, going hiking and camping, and spending time outside. I also enjoy traveling, playing music, reading, and cooking with my wife (Leverett Tutor Maggie Nowak).
