Hello Leverett! I am thrilled to be your Interim Resident Dean this year. My name is John Nowak (he/him/his), and I am a doctoral student with the Committee on the Study of Religion at Harvard, and I have been a Resident Tutor here at Leverett for several years. During the Spring 2022 semester, I served as Interim Resident Dean at Currier House.
As your Resident Dean, I am here to support your academic and personal well-being and to help you navigate Harvard’s numerous resources. I also represent Leverett students at the Administrative Board, which hears petitions for academic exceptions and handles disciplinary cases. I look forward to getting to know you!
A little more about me:
I have research interests in the intersection of identity, reform, and literature in the context of 19th and 20th century South Asia. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science at McGill University, and I hold a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. I have worked for two think tanks, was a Teach for America corps member, and taught in a public school setting for five years. In my spare time, I love running and biking long distances, going hiking and camping, and spending time outside. I also enjoy traveling, playing music, reading, and cooking with my wife (Leverett Tutor Maggie Nowak).
